Photographer Jerry Schatzberg turned his camera to the behind-the-scenes moments of the rival houses’, Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior. ”Paris 1962: Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior, the Early Collections” is a slightly different documentation look at overly dramatic scarves, backstage coughing fits, surreptitious yawns, dress-train fluffing, diffident in-between poses, eyelashes made up so thick they looked like crumpled flowers and other incidents of unguarded awkwardness. Check out the full review here.

David Armstrong is the eyes, ears and friend behind his latest exhibition where he remembers that summer as the zenith of a downtown party scene orbiting around the Mudd Club. Where his friends and himself were living at beaches and older friends places for days on end and the idea was to not work for as long as possible. He captures the highs (literally) and the low lows. 1979 was the year for the photographer that seems very specific in its cultural moment in Manhattan and generally characteristic of what it means to be young in a difficult landscape. The color photographs the 25-year-old took of his friends that summer in Provincetown tell that story. Get a taster of an interview with David Armstrong here at V Magazine and check out some photos after the jump.

Cassette Playa will be injected with dance fever for the Italian Pitti Immagine Uomo tradeshows on June 19th. Carrie Mundane will be taking her 50-strong fast crew to the Florentine hills to perform Cassette Playa’s exclusive live video installation, ‘ Jumpdance’ , during the event.
Lapo Cianchi from Pitti Immagine says “With the landscape of fashion changing rapidly, who better to signify this than Carri Mundane, who is emblematic of the MySpace generation? Her creative work is beyond the normal realms of fashion and seasons; she is communicating on a new level with a highly sophisticated visual language.”
With high voltage energy the show will see her ’sci-fi grime boys’ (as she puts it) in her neon streetwear doing what Cassette Playa is ALL about..

23 year old designer Colin Henderson describes his work as “ruggish”. Maybe because his bold, modern and tribal-inspired design may remind you of a magic carpet? Having studied illustration at Brighton University and now in London, Henderson creates multi-coloured, ethnic- and textile- informed designs, and whether they’re hand-drawn, digitally illustrated or cut-and-paste, the results are breathtaking. The Aztec look has been popular with a lot of designers as of late, but Henderson has taken his colourful structures to the bigger circle. He has also created one-off prints and designs for clothing, books and music videos. Check out a brief chat Dazed Digital had with him here. Check out some of his graphics after the jump..
