I just spent the last half hour wandering the online magazine from Jalou Gallery which is great! I fell into the section NEW TALENT which is currently hosting the photographer Benjamin Stasola. Im not 100% sure, (please correct me if I am wrong) but I think he writes some great music also?? Anyway, the photos are gorgeous and you should check them out. Jalou Gallery is very wonderful also x
With the slow dying soul of polaroid film being removed from our shelves, Dazed Digital is paying tribute to the flash dying film and hosting an online project that you can upload your favourite polaroid images to, write a caption or two about to share with your flash happy ( or not so happy anymore ) friends x
Happy flashing, don’t go too crazy though…. there is not a lot of spare film around!
Derek Henderson is one of those kiwis that gets tired of digging for worms everyday and sets off to find out what new and exciting insects the world has to offer him. He has become an internationally respected photographer known mostly for his work in fashion magazines such as Arena Homme Plus, ID, and Vogue and has recently moved from London to Bondi beach in Sydney with his family.
His previous corporate work with huge companies like Coca Cola and Levis, numerous exhibitions and having published two books, ‘The Terrible Boredom of Paradise’ and most recently ‘I Go Down To The River To Pray’, are just not enough for this kiwi. He is currently working with directors from Sydney Theatre Company, Cate Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upton, on a publicity campaign, and is about to shoot the summer campaign for Country Road and a worldwide campaign for 42 Below Vodka…….phew!
Aside from a stunning portfolio, you just have to see his pictures. They are brilliant. Crisp, and sensitive the photographs hold a moment in time be it with the sensitivity to light or the capturing of ones mood. They are rich in kiwi and I am proud to say, just beautiful.
Fashion greats have always taken to the street for their inspiration, and we are seeing more and more people take their own interpretation of ’streets’ styles in their own hands. The most recent is that of a newly found site called Note Book, which is again taking style from their own streets around the globe and semi proffessional fashion editorials all together on one inspirational site. Im really impressed by the aesthetic of this site I love its layout and clean lines, the hype button is sweet too!
Karl Lagerfeld is a man of many dimensions. One of those dimensions is his eye for detail and composition. Thus he has created a book Trait par Trait ,( Feature by Feature), which contains his photographs from the early 80’s which are as beautiful and considered as the clothing he is renowned for. Put together for French magazine Madame Figaro, the book is a collection of portrait photography including the faces of international stars cate Blanchett, Benicio del Toro, Charlotte Rampling, and David Lynch. This is typically lagerfeld, so if your a fan, this is a must buy!
Tuesday night saw the Paris week front row sitters climbing aboard a boat to celebrate 75 years of Lacoste and the release of Visionaire Magazine 54 SPORT. The first wearable issue sees Visionaire producing full-coverage, full-colour photographically printed polo shirts featuring artwork by photographers Nick Knight, Peter Lindburgh, Inez van Lamsweerde, and Vinoodh Matadin. Karl Lagerfeld and Riccardo Tisci, who previously showed hours earlier, partied the night away in the city of love. Click here to see photos on board the boat by VMagazine. In 2006, photographer Ellen Von Unwerth collaborated with New York designer Erin Fetherston to make a film called ‘Wendybird’ featuring Kirsten Dunst frolicking in a park. This time they team up with girl of the moment Zooey Deschanel to create another fashion short ‘Dreamy Wander’, which sees Zooey, dressed in Erin Fetherston’s whimsical frocks, going on a wild woods trip and falling into a magic mushroom dream of fairies and flowers. Be sure to check out the video above!! and have a look here at the interview with the creative eyes behind the project, Ellen Von Unwerth.
