All Access at Alexander McQueen

Monday, September 29, 2008

On Monday, while fashion journalists, buyers and glossy magazine editors are focused on getting to the next Paris fashion show on time, a style revolution will be under way on the Internet, an event that could change the way all of those front-row names do business in the future. International Herald Tribune gives us the full story on the most talked about movement in fashion today, and they’re not talking about the clothes!

Net-a-porter is teaming with the designer Alexander McQueen for a one-of-a-kind catwalk show that will give the Web site’s two million customers their own front row seat at a McQueen collection. Showing only eight looks from the designers Spring ‘09 Collection, viewers will be able to buy the outfits online that caught their eye, and they will be shipped out to them within the next 24 hours!

This could be the way Fashion Weeks turn in years to come? Easy, functional, do-it-in-your-PJ’s kinda thinking… but is that really what the whole week is about? I think not.

Samurai Sound

Thursday, August 28, 2008

Would you agree that when you stumble across something really extra, the first thing you want to do is tell somebody? This is exactly how it went down when I found Samurai.fm.  Celebrating their fifth birthday earlier this year, the Tokyo based internet radio station have been connecting their online audience with mixes from the industries best.  Often the artists’ sets available are made to measure for the site or recorded live from an event, amplifying the exclusivity of the selection.  As an opened minded/forward thinking collective Samurai.fm have developed strong ties with the UK, running party circuits between Japan & London.  Their philosophy; ‘we play anything that we think is new and exciting.’ The simple truth that has made this station one of the most respected guides to the freshest international music scene.  Currently featuring Samon Kawamura from Jazzy Sport fame; a mix not to be missed. It’s time to tune in.

Thursday, May 15, 2008

You may know French graphic artist Frederique Daubal from her collaborations with Colette or Palais de Tokyo. Now, Nokia has commissioned Frederique to design their latest premium art phone, the 7900 Crystal Prism. Constantly dabbling in textiles, silkscreening, digital prints, letraset and ballpoint pen, Frederique gives us no surprise moving into the realm of laser technology. Check out the phone after the jump!
