“I’d had [this image] stuck above my desk for years and I’m not really sure why, sometimes an image just grabs you.” – Pip Vassett

Not only did this particular image grab Pip Vassett, ex Fashion Editor for Yen magazine, it sunk into her subconscious and planted a seed, of which grew out the decision to start her own brand, dedicated to all of our wonderful bedroom antics, named IN BED.

Speaking to the little indulgent voice inside us that just wants to roll around, mess up the covers and hang out for a few more minutes, IN BED offers a beautifully edited collection of yummy stonewashed linens, cosy cashmere throws and collectable ceramic pieces – all purposely crafted and curated by IN BED for those blissful bedroom moments.

Bursting with situations such as dreaming, recovering, reading, and of course sleeping, Pip has so generously shared with Anyonegirl a collection of her favourite ‘in bed’ images, oozing with comfort and simplicity, that have helped her to shape the vibe of her newest project…

Enjoy!

I’ve always been obsessed with this image. It’s from the Paris Vogue issue that Charlotte Gainsbourg guest edited. Her photographer sister Kate Barry took it (who sadly passed away late last year). I’d had it stuck above my desk for years and I’m not really sure why, sometimes an image just grabs you. When I decided to start IN BED I immediately looked to this shot as inspiration. It was everything I wanted the brand to emulate – cozy, kinda funny, very real but ultimately just like being wrapped up in a big bundle of bliss.

A lot of our campaign imagery is about trying to evoke a feeling. Because we’re mostly online it’s hard to get across how amazing the linen/bedding feels and so you really try to get that across with a mood. This shot of Daria in her NYC apartment hanging out in fresh white sheets and nothing else just makes you want to be her (and not just because she’s, you know…the hottest thing ever). The light streaming in, the bed with just the right amount of messy…perfect.

This bedroom belongs to stylist Kate Young, I came across it on The Selby years ago. It’s the perfect ‘grown ups’ bed! And is a great example of how you can have a bed that’s adult and contemporary without 45 useless throw pillows covering it.

John & Yoko’s Bed In, the perfect protest. Eternally inspirational and a couple that clearly loved to hang out in bed. My kinda people!

If you type ‘Marilyn Monroe In Bed’ into Google there is a crazy amount of images that come up. Marilyn reading in bed, Marilyn drinking milk in bed, Marilyn being cute in bed, Marilyn eating a carrot in bed. You get the idea. I love this one because she looks most like she’s being herself. Plus I love a lady in a mans dressing gown.

Because some days all you want is your bed and this picture says it so perfectly.

I think wrapping yourself up in a duvet is pretty much the most comforting thing ever. It’s the bedding equivalent of a giant bowl of spaghetti bolognese.
