ZACHARIAH 017

I live with two boys. One a musician and the other a music enthusiast. This means regular record nights are organized at our place. Second hand vinyl, new pressings, brand new vinyl, and vinyl from the boys up the road are played through their very lovely, very-geeked-over musical equipment. Conversations revolve around the quality of sound, who left which band to then reform new bands during 1969, who likes drum solos and who prefers to skip them.

Don’t get me wrong. I really enjoy these nights. I am always learning something new, I get to listen to new music that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise been exposed to, and of course we get to enjoy our old favourites. I admire these boys and their fascination with quality music.

Last night we had ones of these record nights, which started with The James Gang’s first album, Yer’ Album featuring Joe Walsh. The producers note on the album reads: This recording was mixed to be played at the highest possible volume, and not to be listened to in stereo headphones until after at least three times played through the speakers.

My favourite tune on this wonderful album is Collage. The first track on side two. Enjoy!
