I spent the long weekend in Wellington, which claims to offer the ‘capital of the arts’ experience, and this time was no different.  I wandered into the City Gallery which was hosting a show called Reboot. In which were various collected pieces and installations by national and international artists. One installation in particular really caught my eye. A work by Axel Stockburger called PSX Warriors: Gran Turismo was a close up video of a younger boys face while he was playing the Gran Turismo Playstation game. The results were fasinating! I really got captivated. The intensity in this boys eyes while he is playing is almost demonic, with fierce concerntration and tension it is hard not to get the feeling that Stockburger wanted to portray the idea of a this-is-where-it-starts image, of violence and fear.

Have a look here at some other similar works done by Stockburger like ‘Tokyo Arcade Warriors’.
