Meet the very beautiful and very clever stylist Molly Kennedy.

American-born Kennedy traveled to New Zealand to study art history and has continued to travel extensively (as a result of her dad being the head of the Historian Association in Nantucket), but for now she calls New York City her home. Having had prominent styling gigs at Vogue and Victoria’s Secret, it has been her most recent work that has caught my attention, working alongside photographers such as Dan McMahon and Cara Striker. With a keen eye for the arts, Molly’s styling work draws on the romantic, the unique and the youthful.

I asked Molly to curated a little story about some of the things that are inspiring her at the moment, as well as some of her all-time absolute favourites…

Enjoy!

My first styling job was…
When I first moved to New York I helped out on a Teen Vogue shoot with Heathermary Jackson. It just took those few days on set to know I wanted to to be a stylist. I loved everything about it.

At the moment I am working on…
A rebrand of Delia’s, an amazing teen clothing company. It is a nostalgic brand for so many girls my age – my friends and I grew up with Delia’s. Working with them now is really special and exciting – a lot of cool things are happening there. I LOVE the teen demographic so, so much. It is so easy to remember what it was like being a teenage girl and wanting to be cool.

Best thing about living in New York is…
My wonderful friends. They inspire me everyday.

I am currently listening to…
Bruce Springsteen. I have I’m on Fire and The River on repeat. I worship The Boss. I’m also obsessed with Lorde’s Pure Heroin. I can’t wait to see her live next month, she is so awesome.

My beauty routine consists of…
I cleanse with a natural face wash with tea tree oil in it and moisturize with Ren’s dermatoid anti-aging cream and use azuline eye cream from Whole Foods. If I’m wearing makeup I’ll use Chantecaille Just Skin tinted moisturizer, eyeliner, mascara and lip balm, also Ren. I try to keep my products as natural as possible. For my body I love Dr Haushka’s rosemary leg and arm toner and Welleda birch oil. My mother in law bought me a beautiful Serge Lutens perfume that smells like roses which I wear at night. My hair is pretty easy to care for – I wash it at night and let it dry naturally – I use Klorane hair products and swear by their dry shampoo.

My favourite piece in my wardrobe is…
The floral Chloe dress I got married in.

I wish everyone in the world would…
Be good to one another.

I don’t have time for…
Unkindness in any form.

My personal style mantra is…
Wear what works for you – don’t always follow trends.

On Sundays I like to wear…
Wolford leggings, sneakers, sweaters and a fur because it has been freezing in New York. In summer I live in kaftans and mumus.

I’m looking forward to summer because…
My mom says in summer “your spirit expands.” So sweet and so true. So that’s something to look forward to but I won’t lie, I am also very excited about wearing my new Maryam Nassir Zadeh summer clothes.

If I have friends coming over I cook them…
Nothing! My husband is the cook but I am pretty good at offering a cheese plate and wine refills.

One thing people don’t know about me is…
I am cuckoo for teddy bears. I have slept with the same teddy bear for the last 26 years and would have a house full of them if I could…. Maybe one day when I am a batty old lady. Something to strive for ; )

I adore the photographer Claude Nori. His summer photos of Italian girls are my favorite. (also see top image)

It’s so sad that Rene Ricard died recently – what a huge loss. My husband and I love his paintings and treasure the print our friends gave us when we got married.

Bruce Springsteen is a God… I will never ever tire of him.

Everything about Reality Bites is perfect.. the wardrobe, dialogue, characters. You can’t beat Winona Ryder. She is such a beauty.

My dream home has lots of Ed Ruscha in it.

The film Her was so great – the colors were beautiful and I LOVED Joaquin Phoenix’s wardrobe.

I am so passionate about homes and interiors. I am constantly trying to find ways to make our small apartment cozier and more livable. These photos of Glenn O’ Brien’s house on The Selby blew me away. Dream house.
