Hedi Slimane ‘Soft Machine’

For the August issue of Vogue Nippon, Hedi Slimane shoots a beautiful editorial featuring Anna Jagodzinska. I really like the title ‘Soft Machine’, it’s a nice insight into the way we sometimes forget to acknowledge the repetitiveness of our body and the way it works, given the tolls we may put it under, much like a machine and on top of all that going on we have the celebration of the fact that we can, in contrast, become soft and fluid in mind and spirit. The juxtaposition of what makes us really amazing creatures and I guess this is what Hedi Slimane captures so well in his photographs, it is beneath the model and her garments, it is the essence of the images which engulfs it’s viewer and makes his work so intoxicating.
