This French actress owes most of her muse-able moments to the 1967 film Belle de Jour.

The title of the cult film refers to the French name of the day lily, Hemerocallis, meaning “beauty of the day”, a flower that blooms only during the day. Quite fitting really, as the film is about a young woman, played by Miss Denevue, who spends her midweek afternoons as a prostitute while her husband is at work. Lounging around in her Yves Saint Laurent-made costumes with big soft bedroom-eyes, it was here that Catherine Denevue scored her title as the YSL muse.

Posing for Playboy and becoming the face of Chanel No. 5, Loreal and M.A.C. it is safe to say she has some reputable companies championing her style. But what I like most about Miss Denevue is the fact she has a sister who is just as cool! Miss Françoise Dorléac.

I have just spent the weekend with my sister, for my Dad’s 60th birthday, and even though I don’t get to see quite as often as we would both like (we live in different countries), every time we get to hang out it is just too much fun. I never laugh with anyone the way I do with her. It’s like we have our own little language, our silly ‘in’ jokes, every funny story just leads into the next, there’s just so much history, I guess. My Dad told me later that we remind him of my mum and her sister… except much more rowdier. Sorry Dad. I know the car can be a refined space when on road trips.

So here’s celebrating having a bloody ripper, bonza sister!
