Keith and Patti

I have just finished reading Life by Keith Richards over my summer break. A beautifully personal conversation from the Rolling Stones guitarist about his friends, family and lovers. I particularly fell for his current wife Patti Hansen. The way in which he would describe her in his little diary entries, oh!

I am married to a most beautiful woman. Elegant, graceful and as down to earth as you can get. Smart, practical, caring, thoughtful and a very hot horizontal consideration. I presume that a lot of luck is involved. I must say that her practicality and logic confound me because she makes sense out of my discursive way of life. Which sometimes goes against my nomadic traits. Applying logic goes against my grain but how I appreciate it. I bow as gracefully as I can.

Presented on the November 1999 Millennium cover of American Vogue as one of the Modern Muses, Patti Hansen also gets my vote on muse-able ladies, with her honey bangs and summer freckles, a soft and understanding nature paired alongside a wild streak that you would just have to have to be married to an erratic genius like Keith. Life on the road with two kids in tow would be testing enough, or how about smashed guitars on your parents table at dinner? Patti took it all in her bohemian-stride. She’s strong, she’s beautiful, and she gets to listen to Keith play guitar in the comfort of her own home. Sold.
