If you are already familiar with the Lower East Side store Maryam Nassir Zadeh, you will by default know the work of photographer and graphic designer, Uday Kak. Being the eyes behind the lens of the store’s look books for brands such as Isabel Marant, A Detacher, Carven, and Cosmic Wonder, Kak photographs these garments and pieces in such a way that is so signature, it really has become the visual voice of Maryam Nassir Zadeh.

And there is a reason for this beautiful pairing. Uday Kak is Maryam Nassir Zadeh’s husband and the person who gave Zadeh the idea to open a shop. “When we were first concepting the store, we wanted everything to be very personal,” says the Iranian-born textile designer and stylist.
