With people holding onto their every penny at the moment it is a pleasant surprise to see that Nate Lowman managed to pull an impressive crowd at his ‘A Dog From Every County’ opening night last saturday and had them leaving with rave reviews. Showing a mixture of some of his more traditional works against his new pieces, Lowman kept his smiley faces afloat against the dollar, pulling in the likes of Camilla Nickerson and Jen Brill, and girlfirend Mary Kate Olsen with her sister Ashley. Explaining the smiley faces, Lowman said he thought now was a good time to showcase something reminiscent of happier times—childhood doodles and the feel-good seventies. Stay tuned for his next project, a large installation that will debut at the Venice Biennale.
