Sex wear has become a large part of the current fashion industry. Actually, ‘sex’ alone has become widely accepted in the commercial arts and fashion industries. Lingerie driven garments, corset, bondage -esque inspired dresses and tops, leotards, belt buckets, lace-up and zips have entered the designs of the fashion industry stretching as far to the high street stores.

Way back when Purple magazine used to put out a separate Purple Sex magazine and American Apparel was simply tee shirts and trackpants, the commercial side of ‘sex’ was put aside for the people who sought out to find it. Now, it is finely immersed within our culture and so it should be, being the more natural way to express one’s self, I would much prefer to receive a sexual driven commercial more than I would a violent or fear driven one, which you can almost guarantee it will be one or the other.

My friend just sent me this link to Rachel Freire’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection which is full of bondage-line inspired gear with dark and gothic tasters, pushing her fashion into a sex/art realm of design. Im not sure I can imagine anyone wearing most of these pieces other than the likes of Lady Gaga or Madonna, but all the same I think the attention to design and detail is something to admire.
