The South

The tourists in their high heels. The elderly lady who broke the last practical bone in her body. A town that runs on a block of ice. The camp owner who played Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris from his Zepher caravan. A sign that read “kids in sport stay out of court” while an over grown rugby field over looks the sea. Long grey hair, as long as mine — the lady that was catching a lift beside a newly painted church named ‘our lady of the river’. The landscapes that rolled their shoulder on every turn of the road. The man driving a tractor while eating scoop ice-cream. The alpine flowers. The pressure-cooked stones. And ‘Old Man Rock’.
