If you close your eyes, this track sounds like it is sung by a roaring, African American blues singer, right? But it is not, it is Johnny Winter. Born with albinism, this American blues guitarist, singer, and producer is best known for his late 1960s and 1970s high-energy blues-rock albums, live performances and for producing three Grammy Award-winning albums for blues legend Muddy Waters.

This track ‘Mean Town Blues’ 1970, is the first song i heard from Johnny Winter, and it is still my favourite. The video shows Winter playing live with his band at the time, placed against a wrapping backdrop of screens playing close-up footage of Johnny and his guitar-  as much as the track is charging in rhythm and groove, it is visually wonderful as well. Enjoy!!
