Alice Waese AW17 by Bibi Cornejo Borthwick

New York-based jeweller Alice Waese’s new collection explores the Italian art movement Non Finito, which translates as “not finished”, in which sculptures appear unfinished as the artist only sculpts part of the stone block, leaving the figure to appear stuck within the material.

To celebrate this process, Waese used existing jewellery molds, partially cast and combined to create new hybrid pieces. The result is jewellery that looks simultaneously rough and luxurious, proving Waese’s belief that something can succeed before being complete.
