The function of design is letting design function.” – Ray Eames.

Some would agree that Ray Eames was in fact the driving force and visionary behind the success of Eames as we know it today. Responsible for many classic, iconic designs of the 20th century, Wikipedia tells me that Ray Eames actually started her artistic experiences studying abstract expressionist painting with artist Hans Hofmann…

This made me think of the painting suspended from the ceiling inside Charles and Ray Eames’ home, hanging parallel to the floor. This deliberate act alone, giving such insight to the designer’s way of thinking – like a personal gesture to their lifestyle and how they aimed to enjoy their surroundings.

By creating simple, functional and attainable designs, Ray Eames continues to be referenced to, be a creative source for, and inspire generations of future thinkers.
