Now you wanna know the reason
Why I cheated on you?
Well I had to be a hunter again.
This little man had to try
To make love feel new again…

…But now you’re gonna go out
And get yourself
A reputation.
But I’m gonna have to show you
Where to start.
And then you’re gonna bring back
Your little reputation
And prove to me
What I could not prove to you.

‘Cause I was just too young at heart.
I’m just too cold, honey.
Just too hard to care.
Just too hard, ‘right
To surrender.
Surrender to love…

Tim Buckley’s Greeting From L.A. (1972) is an album I find myself consistently reaching for at the end of the day. His music and style, having changed considerably throughout his musical career; his first album in ’66 being mostly folk, with his subsequent albums incorporating jazz, psychedelia, funk, soul and avant-garde, will always be admired for the evolving sound and ability of his “voice-as-instrument” – a talent he most definitely passed on to his son!

Sweet Surrender is a smooth, groovy and lyrically-heavy (slash honest) little tune. Enjoy!
